This style of painting from East India is one of the most iconic womens art forms of contemporary India. Traditionally part of weddings, bridal rituals and celebrations, these paintings were painted by women on the inner walls of homes. Women painted symbols and stories of gods and goddesses, motifs of love and marriage represented by local flora and fauna. Our group of artists give their paintings a playful twist. They bring you glimpses of contemporary rural India, adding pun, fun and lots of stories to represent local traditions, festivals, rituals, their life and environment.
